The Best New and Upcoming Tablets of 2018

By October 2, 20182 Comments

While the tablet market might seem a bit crowded these days, the pushing and shoving among top devices to grab your attention — and to get you to leave your laptop behind — means that the list of the best apple and android tablets of 2018 includes some noteworthy features. From upcoming tablets ready to take advantage of new operating systems to devices prepared for HDR content, our list of top tablets released in 2018 has something for everyone.

We’ve carefully looked at features like design, size, battery life and, of course, screen quality to give you an idea of what some of the top tablets have to offer. Just keep in mind that how you intend to use your tablet will impact which device is right for you. For example, hardcore creatives won’t always make the same choice as dedicated content browsers.

1. The iPad Pro 10.5-inch

This tablet is coming out on top of many lists, including Apple’s. Its newly designed Retina display is eye-catching, to say the least, and it offers more power drawing as well as photo and video capabilities than the majority of PC laptops.

Its price tag of $649.00 from Apple means that — for some — the less expensive 2018 iPad might be a better deal. However, the fact that the iPad Pro 10.5-inch tops our list is mostly because it’s ready to run on iOS 11, which is jam-packed with new features and capabilities to make your device more personal and powerful.

2. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

This piece of technology is arguably the best Android tablet on the market today. It’s loaded with exciting features, like a redesigned Samsung S-Pen stylus, four well-powered speakers and even a fingerprint sensor for added security. But what’s most interesting is that it’s the world’s first tablet that’s HDR-ready, with an amazingly lifelike 9.7-inch Super AMOLED screen. For serious movie buffs, the only drawback is that there isn’t yet a sizable collection of HDR videos available for tablet viewing, but you’ll certainly be holding the most mobile movie theater when they are.

In the meantime, if you choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, which is advertised on Google Express for $549.00, you’ll also want to spring for an add-on keyboard, which isn’t included.

3. The Microsoft Surface Pro

This Microsoft product is the latest Windows tablet out to try making you give up your Windows laptop. And while we’re not going to wade into that debate, one thing’s for certain: With its latest CPU update, the Microsoft Surface Pro offers some serious battery life — by some estimates as much as 13.5 hours of video playback time on one charge.

In addition, with a 12.3-inch screen, integrated kickstand and Windows 10 Pro OS, this tablet is a great all-around choice for students, creatives and everyday content consumers alike. Going for $799 on Amazon, the Microsoft Surface Pro might be a little pricey, but it’s got the power many are looking for in a versatile tablet.

4. The Asus ZenPad 3S 10

With its super sleek design, 2K display and excellent audio output, this tablet is also known as the “Android iPad killer,” which should give you an idea of why this tablet makes it to our list. Priced at a mere $289 on Amazon, this tablet does have some drawbacks, such as an average battery life. But for the budget-conscious consumer looking for solid performance with impressive multimedia capabilities, the Aus ZenPad 3S 10 is well worth a look.
